  • Recognize the electrical design that is within acceptable operating limits for power conditioning equipment
  • Select appropriate size, ratings, and locations for all system over current and disconnect devices, grounding, surge suppression, and associated equipment
  • Assemble/install subsystems and components and provide required labels on electrical hardware and wiring
  • Program, adjust, and/or configure inverters and controls for desired set points and operating modes

Passing the NABCEP PV Installer Certification Exam is a smart way to show potential employers you are serious about your job and your future. Start preparing now - successfully complete your Allied course and fulfill one of the following scenarios before sitting for your exam:

1. PV installation experience at some point during the two year period preceding your exam application date. This time period must include installation of at least two PV systems totaling 1kW.

2. A licensed contractor in good standing and PV installation experience during the two year period preceding your exam application date.

3. Four years of electrical construction-related experience and PV installation experience during the two year period preceding your exam application date.

4. Three years of experience in a U.S. Dept. of Labor approved electrical construction trade apprentice program and PV installation experience during the two year period preceding your exam application date.

5. A two year degree in electrical construction/technology/engineering, or a related field, and PV installation experience during the two year period preceding your exam application date.
